'The Golden Eagle' by: Colin Ian Jeffery
High in the cloudy Scottish sky She drifts on outspread wings Eyes searching the swaying grass Feathers caressed by the cooling wind. The nervous hare, nose twitching Stands high on hind-legs Seeking for any danger before he eats And does not see the Eagle soaring above. She folds her wings dropping like a stone Talons open to grab and hold While her hooked beak rips and tears The food that she needs to survive.
